One of the powerful independent black teams around the turn ot the century. They won the 1903 colored World's Championship, beating the Philadelphia Giants 5 games to 2. The legendary Rube Foster pitched 4 of the 5 victories. Other stars included John Hinry "Pop" Lloyd, Dan McClellan, who pitched the FIRST perfect game for a black team in 1903, and Grant "Norm Run" Johnson.
